Why did you choose to become an AMANI Doula/CBE?

I chose to become an AMANI Birth doula and child birth educator because I wanted a training that provided evidence-based knowledge and the cultural aspect to support families in their pregnancy journeys. I also wanted to assist families in the understanding of how the mother body works in such a miraculous way, Subhanallah.

How has AMANI affected your life?

The fact that AMANI gave me this perception that I need to understand the facts and to research everything I need to know to make an informed decision. Also, to take responsibility for my choices and then accept what Allah sends to me as I put my trust in him first and then my instinct and research. This applies to birth and everything else in life.

How does your work as an AMANI Doula/CBE fulfill you?

Supporting moms in their pregnancies and during labor is very empowering and satisfying. Supporting each family and watching how they choose to live their journey is an honor. They allow me to be inspired every day and I am grateful to them for giving me this honor.

What do you love the most about being an AMANI Doula/CBE?

That each case is inspiring and blissful every time.

What is your birth philosophy?

My birth, my body. No judgment to others and no judgment is going to be permitted or allowed from others to the birth I choose no matter what.

What challenges do you face doing this work and how do you overcome them?

The challenges are varied, each birth is unique and to a good extent, right and wrong are not always crystal clear. As an educator and a doula I too have got to trust Allah and my instinct in the best way to support mothers.

What have you been involved in as an AMANI Doula/CBE that touched your heart or confirmed why you do this work?

I have to be honest about this. In the early births I attended as a doula I used to doubt myself. Was I being the best possible support for mothers during birth? But every time a mother gives birth and is very thankful and appreciative of the support I provide her with, I reassure myself that I am doing the right thing by being a doula, CBE, and an advocate for mothers.

What are your hobbies or activities outside of your AMANI Doula/CBE work?

I do several activities outside AMANI that support my role of an educator and advocate for mothers and families. I am a Board Certified Lactation Consultant, holding a masters degree in Applied Nutrition, Newborn Care Specialist, pre/postnatal yoga teacher, and recently I took some courses in aromatherapy use during pregnancy,  labor, breastfeeding and early motherhood. I am a volunteer at Birth Kuwait, a non-profit organization that supports families in Kuwait by providing education and supportive activities for families. I love to learn and I love to support mothers.

Is there anything more you would like to say?

I am thankful to Allah for the blessings he sends me. I am grateful to Him for the opportunities to learn and grow. Being a part of AMANI Birth family is empowering, educating and supportive. Many thanks to Aisha the founder, teacher and inspiring woman, for being there for us as students and human beings. Thank you.
