My name is Tonia Salahuddin, but I am best known by my kunya, Umm Jihad. I have been an educator in some capacity for well over 15 years. I have trained early childhood providers, CDA credential seekers, ESL teachers, and parents. I am a certified educator in both Florida and Illinois in Early Childhood, Elementary (K-6), and ESOL. I homeschooled my four children and continue to support and counsel parents looking to embark on the same journey. I had all my children by Caesarean section. I had a fifth child, my Yaseen, who only lived for 4 short hours. About 2 months after that loss, I had the blessed opportunity to witness the birth of my niece. These experiences and the experiences of others led me to explore more about natural birth options. My first introduction to AMANI Birth Doula Training was in Saudi Arabia. At that time, I was working full-time and unable to take the training. However, throughout the years, I continued to follow and hear about the AMANI Birth training. Alhamdulillaah, at the encouragement of a friend and alongside my daughter, Amani, my AMANI Birth journey began. I am grateful to have this invaluable training and am so happy that my daughter had this training before starting her own family. Together, we will aid women in making the best, well-informed decisions they can make about birthing their babies. I look forward to many years of service as a doula and childbirth educator with the aid of Allah.
