I want to share about one of the principles that forms the foundation to AMANI Birth: Allah is in control of all things. I believe that once this principle truly settles in your heart, in sha Allah, your whole pregnancy and birth journey becomes so much calmer.

What does "Allah is in control of all things" mean?

Simply put, every heartbeat of your baby, every contraction that comes, every movement your baby makes in the womb, all of it happens with Allah's permission. It's not coincidence, not random, and not just because "our bodies are clever." Allah is the One who created the womb, who loosens the pelvic bones at just the right time, who arranges the hormones to be released in the right order.

We are simply going through what He has already decreed.

Why does this principle matter?

In all the time I have spent with expecting mothers, one thing comes up again and again; worry. Worry about the baby's position, the due date, the doctor's decisions, the pain of labor, and so much more. All of that is normal. But when we hold on tightly to this principle, that worry slowly transforms into a sense of calm.

Why? Because we realize we're not giving birth alone. Allah is accompanying every single moment of that process.

Tawakkul is not "doing nothing"

This is important, and I want to emphasize it: believing that Allah is in control of all things does not mean we just sit back, do nothing, and stop learning. True tawakkul looks like:

  •  We learn, we attend antenatal classes, read up, understand our own body's physiology
  •  We take care of our nutrition and health
  •  We make decisions based on knowledge, not just emotion or what others say
  •  Then we surrender the outcome to Allah

The doctor can plan, we can hope and prepare, but ultimately, only Allah determines the final outcome.

Let's picture how this principle plays out in the birthing room:

Contractions begin, a mother who understands this principle doesn't feel "attacked," she feels guided. Her waters break, she doesn't panic, because she knows Allah is starting the process at exactly the right time. She enters the most challenging stage of labor, she turns to remembrance of Allah, asking Allah to make her journey easier.

And most importantly, whatever the final outcome of the birth, this mother won't blame herself.

If she has a natural birth, that is by Allah's permission.
If she needs medical assistance, that too is by Allah's permission.
If she ultimately needs surgery, that is also the path Allah has chosen, to save two lives.

My message for you:

Birth isn't just a physical event. It's an act of worship, one that teaches us how small we are as human beings, and how truly All-Managing Allah is. When you truly understand and live out this principle, birth no longer has to be frightening.

Instead, it becomes a journey back to Allah, full of tawakkul, gratitude, and peace.

Let's train our hearts to surrender, while still putting in our best effort. That's what it really means to be a mother who is prepared; in knowledge, in spirit, and in faith.
