As a doula, I've seen the positive impact of collaboration between doulas and medical professionals on birth outcomes. In this post, I'll explore the role of a doula, the benefits of doula support, and why collaboration is essential.
What is a Doula?
A doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support to birthing individuals and their families. We're like the steady calm in the birthing roomāa reassuring presence focused on the mother's emotional well-being.
The Benefits of Doula Support
Research shows that having a doula on the birth team leads to better outcomes, including:
- Lower C-section rates
- Shorter labors
- Improved emotional well-being
- Better outcomes for babies
Why Collaboration Matters?
As medical professionals, your focus is on safety and clinical needs. Doulas focus on emotional and physical comfort. Together, we can create a harmonious environment where families feel safe, supported, and empowered.
Let's work together to create positive and empowering birth experiences for every family!
When doulas and medical care providers truly collaborate, the end goal must always be to allow moms to work with their body and giving them the time and space to do so. Oonce mom and baby are healthy and doing fine.
Absolutely šÆ collaboration is the key to help the mother in suitable way
Sweet and short, I love this, I will definitely be sharing this with doctors I know and meetš«¶
Both roles compliment each other for the benefit of mom š

Collaboration is key to good practice! Ma Sha Allah very well written!
One hand can’t clap !!
The collaboration between medical care provider and a doula as emotional care provider is a need not a choice !
Very important discussion
Definitely highlighted the main bits in short – something a busy doctor can easily connect to!
Small yet preciseš¤ Every role is important if they truly do what is supposed to be done unless there is true medical need. Collaboration is necessary where the center is mother and everyone in the birth team has the same goal.
Very informative mashaAllah
Collaborating for better births !
Thank you for sharing. Collaboration lesson with doctors and medical staff was definitely one of the best takeaways from the Academy for me.
On point! We need this. We need all the people working in maternal care to understand this.
Things flow so much more smoothly when the birth team collaborates and works together.
I love the idea of collaborating! It could make a huge difference in everyone’s community!
In all honesty, collaboration should be the goal and focus of all birth team members. They should work as one to facilitate a smooth and blessed transition for both mother and baby. Anyone unable to do this should be removed from the team.
i want both of them in my birth, jazakillah khayran Nabira <3
