No daily habit has more ability to reshape our biology than the food we consume. These are some questions to ask ourselves before planning a baby:
- What is my relationship with food?
- Do I eat mindfully or consume blindly?
- Am I living to eat or eating to live?
- Does most of my entertainment today revolve around food?
Remember to take care of your biology BEFORE planning a baby, because let me tell you, your food choices can greatly impact your health during pregnancy, including your mental health, the health and development of your baby AND the outcomes of your birth.
YES! You got that right.
Your chances for having either a C section or a natural birth are greatly influenced by your nutrition. Your biology.
Think of food as a bundle of information molecules-it's like a set of instructions that can either boost or harm your health EVERY time you eat!
Food is way more than just calories. It's like the code that controls your body's health functions. Sadly, the modern diet is made up of 60% ultra processed food. They undergo so much change that they end up looking nothing like food.
Unfortunately, the increasing number of girls that are getting pregnant today are sick from the inside. PCOS, anemia, vitamin deficiencies, gut issues, low immunity, hormonal imbalances, weight issues, and what not!
And it's NOT okay. It's not okay to be sick. Somehow, it's getting normal to be sick. We take it casually, and we talk about it casually. Even the pills we take, we take them casually; be it painkillers, supplements or antibiotics! The truth is we shouldn't be sick in normal circumstances. And the root cause of our sickness is in our lifestyle!
And our lifestyle begins before we're even born! In fact being breastfed or formula fed impacts our overall health and our food choices for the rest of our lives!
The more sick we are from the inside, the more complications can be expected during pregnancy AND birth!
In AMANI Childbirth Education Classes you will learn a lot more with applicable methods to navigate towards a healthy lifestyle.
A healthy mother can raise a healthy generation and it starts before the bump!
Great article mashaaAllaah. I love the other considerations you bring up such as the relationship with food. So often it’s limited to the quantity and qualities of the food .
Really important because it’s the only thing a mother has complete control over. JAK 💙
Great reminder about how food impacts pregnancy and birth—take care of your health before the bump!
العقل السليم في الجسم السليم ،وكذلك الحمل السليم ينتج عن جسم سليم
A healthy mind in a healthy body, as well as a ،healthy pregnancy results from a healthy body..
This is something, mothers take for granted – nutrition is mostly viewed as supplements and the rest we just tend to eat anything. Great article highlighting the major role of good nutrition!
Excellent article! And totally agree with this – a healthy mother can raise a healthy generation.
By embracing healthy eating habits, you’ll support a positive pregnancy outcome and give your baby the best possible start!
Absolutely ! Birth preparation starts way before you conceive and that definitely starts with good nutrition 💪
This is awesome, one of the things we definitely have control over. JazakAllahu khair. Beautiful reminder for us all ♥️
Great article! Highlighting importance of nutrition not only during pregnancy but also outside of it
So much of why we do not feel our best is due to the consumption of over processed and generally unhealthy food and drink. Especially in pregnancy and pre-pregnancy it is vital to improve our diets and eat nutritious food.

Mindful eating during pregnancy helps you tune in to your body’s needs, ensuring you nourish both yourself and your baby with balanced, and healthy choices.
Wonderfully written, if only we stop taking our food for granted and realise that a good nutrient dense meal can never be substituted by taking supplements.
Great article 💕
Great article, MashAllah
As you said healthy mother means healthy baby
Loved this article. I can sense from your writing how passionate you are about this topic. It is never to late to change our relationship with food for the better.
Eat right for a blessed start 💚
Very important topic. May even come under the Hadith that we are all shepherds of our own flock and will be asked about that on the Day of Judgement.
We are responsible for what enters our bodies and then reaches our babies.
